Starting solid foods: Weeks 20 and 21

During weeks 20 and 21 of starting solid foods, we began to pack up our house to move. We tried to keep food as a priority, and used up some of the ends of our cupboards. New foods for our daughter included sugar-free banana muffins.

The foods that our daughter consumed during weeks 20 and 21 of starting solid foods are listed below.


Breakfast

During weeks 20 and 21 of starting solid foods, our daughter was not very interested in breakfast, due to breastfeeding first thing in the morning. When she ate food, she ate it using her hands, with a spoon available at all times.

During weeks 20 and 21 of starting solid foods, our daughter’s breakfasts were:

Breakfast 

  • Rice cake
    • with pear and apple spread, grape, and haricot beans
    • with banana
    • with sugar-free chia berry jam
  • Smoothie
    • with tahini, banana, and soya milk
  • Polenta
    • with tomato and lentil sauce
  • Banana
    • with silken tofu and sugar-free chia berry jam
  • Apricot
  • Sugar-free banana muffin
    • with chia berry jam
  • Shredded wheat with soya milk
  • Banana muffin

Lunch

During weeks 20 and 21 of starting solid foods, our daughter’s lunches were similar to ours.

Our daughter picked at these lunches with us, using her hands, with a spoon available whenever appropriate.

During weeks 20 and 21 of starting solid foods, her lunches were:

  • Smoothie
    • with soya milk, banana and tahini
  • Polenta
    • with haricot beans, tomato, and macaroni
    • with tomato and lentil ragu, and kiwi
    • with lentil soup, tomato, and asparagus
  • Rice cake
    • with cucumber, roasted pepper, and chickpea omelette
    • with tomato, peanut butter, asparagus, and chia berry jam
    • with pinto beans
    • with lentil soup
    • with tofu
    • with cannelloni beans, tomato, coriander, and peanut butter
    • with nakd bar
  • Macaroni
    • with tofu and carrot scramble, and broad bean and mint hummus
  • Toast
    • with tomato, lentil soup, and asparagus
  • Rice
    • with tomato, broccoli, pinto beans, and pineapple
    • with cannelloni beans, tomato, satsuma, banana, and banana muffin

Dinner

During weeks 20 and 21 of starting solid foods, our daughter’s dinners were similar to ours, and incorporated components of what we were eating wherever possible.

During weeks 20 and 21 of starting solid foods, her dinners were:

  • Mushroom barley risotto
    • with haricot bean and tomato
  • Macaroni
    • with tomato lentil ragu
  • Polenta
    • with chickpea omelette
  • Macaroni
    • with silken tofu, and chickpea omelette
    • tomato and lentil ragu and tomato
  • Rice cakes
    • with macaroni, tofu, and carrot scramble
    • with broadbean and mint hummus, tomato, asparagus
  • Bread
    • with broad bean and mint hummus, and tomato
  • Chips
    • with rice cakes
  • Rice
    • with broccoli, cannelloni bean, and satsuma
    • with tofu, tomato, and coriander
  • Potato wedge
    • with peppers, onion, and coriander
    • with tomato and tofu

Other / snacks

During weeks 20 and 21of starting solid foods, other foods and snacks our daughter ate included:

  • Rice cakes

Over the next few weeks, we are hoping our daughter will return to eating with her old enthusiasm. We will offer her new and seasonal foods, including stone fruits.
