Starting solid foods: Menu from week 13

During week 13 of starting solid foods, we focused on increasing the variety of foods we were offering our daughter. We tried to offer a range of carbohydrates, colours, textures, and fresh and raw vegetables.

She ate at the table with us, and largely with her hands, although spoons we offered whenever appropriate. Her food mirrored ours as often as possible, which she enjoyed.

Her full menu for the week is listed below.


During week 13 of starting solid foods, for breakfast, our daughter ate:

  • Mango with ground almond and purple grape
  • Avocado on toast
  • Avocado on toast
  • Rhubarb, banana, yoghurt, and shredded wheat
  • Yoghurt, banana, and rhubarb
  • Rice cakes
  • Chickpea omelette, with peanut butter on toast


During week 13 of starting solid foods, for lunch, our daughter ate:

  • Lentil soup and rice cake
  • Lentil soup and rice cake
  • Carrot and almond soup, with mash
  • Carrot, coriander, and almond soup, with rice cakes, grape, satsuma, and tomato
  • Carrot, coriander, and almond soup
  • Broad bean and mint hummus


During week 13 of starting solid foods, for dinner, our daughter ate:

  • Nut roast, mashed potato, and swede
  • Mushroom and cashew pasta, with peas
  • Carrot and almond soup, with mash
  • Broad bean and mint hummus, with tomato, and mashed potato
  • Lentil soup, with pasta, and cashew sauce with ground almonds
  • Pasta, with lentil soup, and cucumber sticks


During week 13 of starting solid foods, between meals, our daughter ate:

  • Pecan nuts
  • Spring greens
  • Carrot
  • Satsuma
  • Ground almond
  • Rice cake
  • Pineapple
  • Pepper

Over the next week, we’d like to offer our baby foods including rice grains, curry, and strong flavours including garlic and coriander.
